Encourage curiosity
From
the early stage of childhood, every child is very curious. He tries to discover
things by himself. He tries even elders forbade him to do so. This is only
because of curiosity. Most of the parents don’t let their kids interact with
the world. They don’t let them pick things up beneath the sofa. They don’t let
them search lost things in the store. They make them scared of dangerous
creatures in the store and holes in the corner of the room. Then they try to
compensate by giving kids learning books to teach them how an animal’s fur
feels, instead of taking them to a zoo. There is a certain amount of caution
that should be in any parent’s mind. But don’t stop your kids from discovering
the world just because it’s an inconvenience to wash their hands afterward. Let
them explore first. Then let them imagine and experience by themselves.
Admire them instead of correcting their imagination
Kids
are very imaginative. They don’t know the rationality behind events. They fly
in the air, swim in the deep ocean. They play with dinosaurs and fight with
dragons. They put themselves in a scenario with such kinds of creatures as they
had seen in cartoons or listen to the grandmothers in stories. They name things
from their sides. They are always positive about things. If parents or other
socializing agents don’t scare them from snakes they would catch them in their
hands. It means fear comes from the environment; it may not be naturally
built-in. Try to let them grow with their imagination and let them practice.
They will experience things by themselves. It is more learning instead of
always correcting them verbally.
Give them the chance to see the world
As
a human, we learn and experience things in every little interval. We can
identify different things even in our room that we don’t focus at. The more we
learn things, the more we broaden our views about the world. A child who
doesn’t realize importance out of their city or country, he may not be able to
see the wonders of the world. Try to realize them other places, other than his
surroundings. Travel them around the world, if you don’t have the opportunity
or resources, read books or show them documentaries about different cultures,
places, languages, and people. These informative things make them creative and
resourceful.
give them free choice
Kids
play and create the environment by themselves. The majority of the children
don’t let you interfere with it. They want you to play with them but according
to their wish. If you try to teach them how to play, it kills their
imaginations and creativity. Do not impose your experience. Let them play in
Most
of the parents complain that their kids don’t show interest in books. The
answer is very simple, for the children, books are like their toys. If you
instruct a toddler how to handle books or show them the right way of picking up
the pencil. They will never obey you. Let them have handle books or pencils in
their way. Children compare their toys with books. In the toys, they have
freedom in majority cases but in reading books, they have restrictions and
instructions. That’s why they get rid of the things where they feel the
imposition.
Lead by example
Creativity
is as much an instinct as it is learned behavior. You cant teach your child
creativity in things. Every child has his spark and natural tendency towards
something. Let your child practice freely. Give time and presence to your
child. Be creative and imaginative with them. Make your games and stories etc.
be present, it is more important. If you set with your child and you are busy
on your mobile or computer. It affects a child’s sense of his job. He will try
to copy you. He will never be busy in his games, rather he will try to grab
your mobile. If you give them time and attention and show your creativity to
them, they will feed off it, and then they will develop their creativity and
imagination. The only thing then you need to do, is asking them to explain
things that they have done with toys or playing games. This activity may enable
them to think more positively about their experiences. Because they feel that
you are interested in their games and activities.
Conclusion
Being
a parent, you have to work on your patience about kids’ experiences. Your
child’s creativity and positive imagination are more important than preserving
a better environment. If your child writes on the wall, don’t be angry with
them. Get a whiteboard or hang a big piece of paper with the wall. Give them
alternatives don’t restrict them in a certain scenario. The biggest influence on
children’s behavior is their parents. It starts with you, what are you doing
each day to promote their creativity. Provide them an outlet to express
themselves. Admire them and interact with them all the time. Give them your
presence physically and socially. Your interaction enables them to respond on
time. It doesn’t stretch the gap between you and your child.
